Executive Assistant to Managing Partner

Brannigans

  • Canterbury
  • Permanent

The Client
Our client is a well established New Zealand professional services firm with a strong presence in Christchurch. Acting for a broad range of clients, from businesses and organisations to individuals and families, the firm offers expertise across a wide range of industries and practice areas.

The firm is led by its Managing Partner, an energetic and driven leader. Very hands-on, he is closely involved with the firm’s clients, people and growth, and requires a highly capable EA to keep his time focused on what matters most.

The Role
Be the Managing Partner’s right hand, bringing structure, space and calm to a busy, fast-moving working life. Approximately 80% of your time will be spent on work within the firm, with the remaining 20% across personal and family business interests. You will take full ownership of the diary, making decisions, creating breathing room and protecting the time that matters, including time away from the office. You will manage the inbox, travel, events and meeting cadence, ensuring the urgent and important are sequenced well. You will also turn dictation and verbal instructions into polished correspondence; coordinate meetings, functions and staff-related matters; liaise with family members and advisers on family business interests; and, when plans change at the last minute, rebook, rally the right people and keep everything moving proactively.

Direct and decisive, the Managing Partner values and looks after a trusted team. For the right person, this is a role with real responsibility, genuine variety and recognition for the difference you make.

The Person

  • A seasoned EA supporting a senior leader, with plenty of initiative
  • Proactive and quick to read situations, acting ahead of the ask
  • Confident to manage up, offer a different view and hold the line, with tact and good humour
  • High emotional intelligence and sound judgement with personal and family dynamics
  • Patient and composed in a busy environment
  • Absolutely discreet with confidential business and personal matters
  • Strong writer, confident with digital and AI tools
  • Flexible, including availability outside of work hours on occasion
  • Experience in professional services would be an advantage
