Building ConneXion Limited (BCL) is a well-established business in the Nelson Tasman region, operating ITM stores in Motueka, Tākaka and Nelson, alongside frame and truss and joinery manufacturing operations. Its Motueka store serves trade and retail customers across Tasman and is known for strong customer relationships and personal service. The business values face-to-face connections with customers, its team and the wider community.

The Role
This key leadership role is responsible for the overall performance and continued success of the ITM Motueka store. You will lead the team and day-to-day operations, combining sound commercial judgement with a hands-on approach to sales and customer service.

You will take ownership of budgets and profitability, with a focus on sales growth, margin and cost control. Working alongside the wider BCL sales team, you will strengthen existing customer relationships, identify new business opportunities and maintain the high level of personal service the store is known for.

As a visible and engaged leader, you will set clear expectations, develop your team and build a culture of accountability and safe working practices. You will work closely with the wider BCL team and bring fresh thinking and practical improvements that strengthen store performance and support sustainable growth.

Skills and Experience
We are looking for an approachable, capable people leader with strong commercial acumen who enjoys working with customers and supporting a team to succeed.

You will bring:

• Proven people leadership and team development experience
• Proven financial and commercial skills, including managing budgets, inventory and profitability
• Sales leadership experience and confidence working alongside sales teams to win and retain business
• Excellent relationship-building and communication skills
• A supportive leadership style, with the confidence to set expectations and address performance issues
• Strong customer focus and a genuine preference for face-to-face engagement
• Sound operational management skills and a commitment to leading health and safety

Experience in building products, trade or retail management, construction supply or logistics would be an advantage, but is not essential. What matters most is your ability to lead people, manage business performance and build strong relationships that help both the team, and the business succeed.
