Our Client
Our client is a well-established, multi-office chartered professional services firm with a strong reputation across the South Island. They’re known for cultivating genuine, long-term relationships, a diverse client base across a wide range of industries, and a values-led team culture. It’s a culture recognised by their own team, earning the firm a Great Place To Work Certification for 2026–2027. 87% of employees say new starters are made to feel welcome from day one. In this role, you’ll play a key part in keeping it that way.
The Role
You’ll lead a small business support and front-of-house team across all offices, owning workflows, capacity and day-to-day priorities for the group.
Your remit will cover the internal teams onboarding and induction along with consistent client onboarding across offices, and payroll processing (using Smartly) so accuracy here is critical, You’ll also manage creditor-side finance administration, including loading payments and internal procurement approvals, and pull together operational reporting out of Xero covering bases such as recoverability and productivity.
Beyond the numbers, you’ll help keep the team ticking along day to day – from coordinating workflows and meeting agendas to the smaller, softer touches that keep a workplace feeling high connected and supporting great outcomes for their clients.
Skills and Experience
You’ll bring solid office or operations management experience, ideally from a professional services environment, along with hands-on payroll processing experience – familiarity with Smartly is a bonus.
Attention to detail and trustworthiness with numbers are critical to success in this role. You’ll also bring genuine people leadership experience: the ability to listen, build trust, and support a team. We’re looking for someone with broad office operational know-how, a continuous improvement mindset and a reputation for accuracy.
Confidence using practice management and reporting systems such as Xero will help you hit the ground running.
