The Board invites applications for the role of Tumuaki / Principal at Manurewa High School, commencing in 2027.
This is an exceptional opportunity to lead one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most significant and innovative secondary kura, providing educational, strategic and organisational leadership so every aakonga leaves happy, confident and proud, embodying our Learner Profile and living ‘Be the ManuREWA Way’: Respect, Excellence, Whaanaungatanga and Akoranga.
Upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ara o Taawhaki as non-negotiable foundations, the Tumuaki will:
- Ensure a safe, inclusive and caring environment for students and staff.
- Continue developing a relevant, pathway-focused curriculum meeting the aspirations of learners and whaanau.
- Partner with the Board to advance the school’s vision, values and strategic priorities, building leadership capacity throughout the kura.
- Represent and advocate for the school across the sector, engaging meaningfully with students, whaanau, staff and community.
This is as much a chief executive role as an educational one, a kura of more than 2,400 students, almost 300 staff, and over 60 nationalities.
Manurewa High School leads New Zealand’s largest Trades Academy, runs the country’s largest in-house lunch programme, and is known for its distinctive Waananga, Ako Connect and Kaitiaki curriculum structure.
