The Role
Based in Christchurch and reporting to the EPC Manager, you will play a pivotal role in successfully leading the commercial aspects of bids, tenders, contract negotiations and risk management activities, ensuring projects are commercially robust, competitive and aligned with strategic growth objectives.
Working closely with estimators, project delivery teams, senior leaders, clients and external advisors, you will provide commercial leadership throughout the project lifecycle, from early bid development and contract negotiation through to project handover and delivery. This is an opportunity to influence significant infrastructure projects and contribute directly to the continued growth and success of ElectroNet Group.
You will be responsible for leading the commercial development and governance of EPC bids and proposals, ensuring opportunities are identified, appropriately structured, priced and managed to support successful project outcomes. Key areas of responsibility will include:
- Leading commercial reviews, tender submissions and bid approval processes
- Developing pricing strategies and ensuring proposals are commercially sustainable
- Assessing contractual, commercial and delivery risks and developing mitigation strategies
- Reviewing and negotiating contracts, including NZS 3916 and EPC contractual frameworks
- Leading client, supplier and subcontractor negotiations to achieve commercial outcomes
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and industry partners
Your Skills and Experience
We are seeking an experienced commercial professional with a strong background in infrastructure, energy, construction or EPC environments with experience across contract management, quantity surveying, project management or related disciplines.
You will have demonstrated experience leading complex commercial bids and tender submissions, with a strong understanding of EPC delivery models, commercial risk allocation and contract negotiation. Experience reviewing and negotiating NZS 3916 contracts will be highly valued, along with the ability to influence outcomes at a senior leadership level.
A tertiary qualification in engineering is preferred; however, of equal importance will be your commercial judgement, stakeholder capability, communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
