The Opportunity
The Audit and Risk Committee supports Council by providing oversight and advice on matters of risk, compliance and accountability. It is a core Committee required to be constituted to carry out key monitoring functions of Council in relation to risk.
  
This is a unique opportunity for a suitably experienced and passionate candidate to support the Council’s governance of a high performance organisation, proudly representing its community.
  
You will be one of two Independent Members assisting Council to discharge its responsibility in exercising due care in the oversight of Health and Safety and Wellbeing, internal control frameworks, ensuring robust external accountability and reporting, regulatory compliance, asset management frameworks and liability management.
  
Expressions of interest from potential Audit and Risk Subcommittee Members are being sought. To succeed in this opportunity, you be a strategic independent thinker, have an appreciation of governance best practice, empathy with a community focused organisation, while driving efficiency and effectiveness.
  
The Council is seeking skill diversity on its Board, with a preference given to candidates with experience and skills in some or all the following areas:  

  • Financial reporting and technical accounting
  • Strategic risk and assurance
  • Governance capability – ideally within an Audit and Risk Committee environment
  • Independence and constructive challenge
  • Legal and regulatory awareness
  • Infrastructure and asset management exposure
  • Public sector or Local Government exposure

We encourage expressions of interest from candidates who may not meet the above criteria but bring relevant skills and perspectives.
