About the Role
Māori Hill School is seeking an inspirational and visionary Principal to lead the school into its next chapter. Central to the role is fostering and nurturing positive relationships between students, staff, and whānau. The Principal will build on the school’s success by inspiring a culture where students are engaged, motivated, and striving for excellence. This role offers the opportunity to guide the school’s vision, while continuing to emphasise high achievement, holistic development, and collaboration with whānau and the wider community. The Principal will create an environment where students feel they belong, are encouraged to take risks, express their creativity, and work together to succeed.

To thrive in this role, you will bring:

  • Visible Leadership: A highly visible and approachable leader who engages with the school community and leads through action and presence, maintaining strong team culture.
  • Relationship Builder: Skilled in building meaningful and respectful relationships with staff, students, and the wider community, with a focus on cultural diversity andinclusivity. Experience working with mana whenua and fostering community partnerships.
  • Clear and Trusted Communicator: Able to communicate with clarity, consistency, and respect, ensuring every voice is heard while navigating change and maintaining direction.
  • Empowering Staff: Demonstrates the ability to set clear expectations and empower staff, creating a high trust environment that encourages autonomy and collaboration.
  • Pursues Growth: A commitment to well-rounded education, balancing academic achievement with the development of soft skills. Passionate about fostering continuous improvement in teaching and supporting diverse learning pathways.
  • Strong Management and Governance: Strong capability in school administration, financial management, and sound decision making, with a strong sense of responsibility and accountability.
