Port Marlborough is leading a nationally significant infrastructure programme and is seeking a skilled and motivated Project Engineer to join the Waitohi Picton Ferry Development Project. This transformative project aims to improve the gateway between the North and South Islands, bringing long-term benefits to the region and contributing to New Zealand’s transport future.
This is a hands-on, fast-paced position that will place you at the heart of the project. You will work closely with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to ensure the successful delivery of both marine and landside infrastructure. You’ll oversee the works, ensuring alignment of engineering outcomes and fostering positive collaboration among stakeholders. This is a fulltime and fixed term role for 5 years to align with the length of the project.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide engineering support across marine and landside construction works
• Manage relationships with consultants, contractors, and internal stakeholders
• Monitor contractor performance to ensure quality, compliance, and delivery
• Uphold health and safety standards on site
• Collaborate with the wider project team to maintain project momentum
What You’ll Bring
• Tertiary qualification in Engineering (BEng / NZDE or equivalent)
• At least 5 years’ experience in construction or infrastructure projects
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• A practical, hands-on approach to problem-solving and project delivery
• A commitment to health and safety and proactive site management
