General Manager

Eliot Sinclair

  • Canterbury
  • Permanent

Our Client:
Eliot Sinclair is a dynamic, consulting firm with over 90 years of expertise in delivering integrated engineering, surveying, planning, and environmental services across Te Waipounamu (New Zealand’s South Island). From humble beginnings as a surveying practice, they’ve grown into a trusted partner for clients ranging from individual property owners to major developers, guiding projects from initial concept through to completion. Eliot Sinclair’s mission is simple yet ambitious: to streamline complex development processes, foster innovative solutions, and create enduring communities where people can live, work, and thrive, all while prioritising sustainability and ethical practices.

With offices in Christchurch, Nelson, Queenstown, and beyond, they serve diverse sectors including residential subdivisions, commercial developments, rural projects, and coastal infrastructure, all while building strong relationships with iwi, councils, and stakeholders.

About the role:
Eliot Sinclair is seeking an experienced General Manager to provide operational leadership across their six locations. This pivotal role involves oversight of people, systems, finances, and infrastructure, ensuring alignment with their values while enabling technical teams to deliver high-quality client outcomes. You will build organisational capability, manage risk, mentor a high-performing team, drive sustainable growth, and leave a lasting legacy in integrated development and community empowerment.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proven senior leadership experience (ideally 8+ years). Exposure to multidisciplinary professional services, law, accounting, engineering, or any consulting environment that is in the business or selling time would be an advantage but is not essential for the right candidate.
  • Strong track record in operational management, financial oversight, strategic planning, and risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor diverse teams, fostering a collaborative culture, and driving business growth.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, and strengths with aligning operations to organisational values.
  • Tertiary qualification in engineering, business management, or a related field (postgraduate preferred); knowledge of the New Zealand resource management and development sector is advantageous.
  • Passion for people, innovation, and community impact.

Expressions of Interest:
If you possess the above qualities and wish to express your interest in this exciting opportunity, please email Rosie Robinson rosie.robinson@brannigans.co.nz or initial enquiries are welcome by phoning Rosie on 027 221 2080 or Nick Hodgson 021 1904 191.
