Harness Racing New Zealand (HRNZ) serves as the peak authority for harness racing, providing leadership, promotion, and administration support to the sport. Situated in Christchurch, adjacent to Addington Raceway, HRNZ is strategically located at the heart of harness racing in Canterbury. HRNZ collaborates closely with member clubs and kindred bodies, national and regional forums, allied organisations such as Racing New Zealand, TAB NZ, and Entain, its primary wagering partner. HRNZ’s primary objectives include establishing a robust foundation to enhance business and wagering performance, securing racing opportunities, providing strategic leadership and direction, and maximizing returns for both owners and participants within the sport. Director Vacancy – Who We’re Seeking
Following the resignation of a North Island based Director, HRNZ is seeking a new Director to join the Board. We welcome applications from individuals who can bring strong judgement, relevant expertise, and a commitment to the future of the harness racing industry.
Ideal candidates will bring:
• An understanding of and commitment to the harness racing industry
• Strategic thinking and sound decision-making skills
• Strong commercial acumen
• Experience in managing stakeholder relationships
• Ideally, some exposure to governance
The successful candidate will contribute constructively at a Board level, supporting effective oversight, strategy development, and the long-term sustainability of the organisation.
