They are seeking a motivated and skilled Environmental and Systems Specialist to join the team in Nelson. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a wide range of environmental performance and management systems to ensure compliance and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
About the Role:
In this role, you’ll be responsible for implementing and monitoring our Environmental Management Plan, ensuring compliance with resource consents, and managing environmental risks across the site. You’ll also support the Systems Manager in maintaining and improving ISO-certified management systems and other compliance frameworks.
What you’ll be doing:
• Implement and review the Environmental Management Plan and monitor compliance with resource consents.
• Assist with internal and external audits for health and safety, multiple ISO and other certified management systems.
• Oversee hazardous substances management and workplace exposure monitoring.
• Take an active role in the management of the wastewater treatment plant to ensure cost-effective, compliant operation.
• Provide training and guidance on environmental and chemical handling procedures.
• Engage proactively with stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and community groups.
About you:
• Experience with environmental compliance and management systems (ISO standards).
• A tertiary qualification in environmental science, engineering, or a related discipline is preferred; however, candidates with substantial relevant experience and demonstrated expertise will also be highly regarded.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
• A proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
• Positive attitude with the flexibility to take on responsibilities beyond your core role.
