The Role
Located in Balclutha and reporting to the Group Manager – Infrastructure Strategy and Delivery, this role will lead, develop and manage the Operations Team involved in the provision and supervision of contract management for Council’s Transportation, Parks and Reserves and Waste Management Services. In this role you will be responsible for a team of 11 and operations contractors.
You will:
- Lead the delivery of Council’s operational services across transport, parks, reserves and waste, ensuring assets and services meet required standards
- Provide effective leadership and development for your team, fostering a culture of safety, accountability and high performance
- Oversee the management of maintenance and renewal programmes, operational contracts and associated budgets
- Provide advice to the Group Manager on the implication of operational policy
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, environmental and health and safety requirements
- Build strong relationships with contractors, consultants, iwi, regulators and the wider community to support successful service delivery
- Contribute to planning and delivery of capital works programmes and long term asset management strategies
Your skills and experience:
- Tertiary qualification in a related discipline and desirably a Contract Management Qualification
- Contract and Maintenance experience with understanding of NZS3910 and NZS3917
- Strong knowledge of contract and asset management practices, including maintenance and renewal planning
- Extensive civil engineering experience
- Proven leadership and operational management experience, ideally in infrastructure or local government environments
- Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, monitor performance and deliver results through others
- Excellent relationship management, communication and problem solving skills
- A collaborative, future focused approach with the ability to balance day to day operations with longer term strategic goals
