The Opportunity
Design Windows is seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to champion safety initiatives across their five branches. In this part-time role (approximately 20 hours per week, based at the Nelson branch), you’ll work closely with Branch Managers and staff to promote safe work practices, ensure legislative compliance, and strengthen a safety-first culture. Days and hours are negotiable, with a consistent weekly schedule.
You’ll oversee all health and safety systems and processes, including monitoring the internal H&S platform (Bware), maintaining risk registers, reviewing incident investigations, and conducting internal audits. You’ll provide practical recommendations for improvement, lead monthly H&S meetings, present updates at Branch Manager forums, and prepare regular reports for management. Staying current with legislation and applying best practices across all sites will be key to your success.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have a relevant health and safety qualification and proven experience, ideally gained in a manufacturing or operational environment. You will have a solid understanding of NZ health and safety laws and have the people and communication skills to connect easily with team members at every level. Strong organisational and reporting skills, coupled with attention to detail, will set you up for success. Just as importantly, you will have a proactive and approachable style, with the ability to influence positive change. Intermediate computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office, are essential.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in a business where excellence is a way of life. You will be supported by a collaborative team and play a key role in shaping health, safety, and well-being across an established organisation.
