The Role
Reporting to the Principal, the Deputy Principal will play a pivotal role in the leadership and daily operations of St Mark’s School. This position requires a willingness and ability to take part in religious instruction in keeping with the Special Character of the school. The role will support the Principal in guiding the strategic direction of the school, ensuring excellence in teaching, learning and pastoral care, while providing values driven leadership across curriculum, staff development and day to day operations. This position also includes a teaching component, providing the opportunity to model outstanding classroom practice. As Deputy Principal, you will hold a central responsibility for upholding the gospel of Jesus Christ, and living and promoting the values that shape all aspects of school life.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate proven teaching and leadership experience, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff while fostering a positive and inclusive school culture. You will bring experience in curriculum leadership across Years 0–8, with a strong focus on high quality teaching and student achievement, alongside well developed organisational and operational management skills, including strategic planning, staff development, and health and safety compliance. Strong relationship building skills with students, staff, parents and the wider community will be essential, together with a commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and culturally responsive practice. A personal alignment with the Anglican special character of St Mark’s will enable you to contribute to and support the mission of the school.
