This is a 12 month parental leave contract, reporting to the CEO of ChristchurchNZ. You will be leading a high performing team to grow Christchurch and Canterbury as a destination, gateway and preferred location for visitation through tourism, attractions, international education, business events and major events. Your Destination and Attraction team will ensure high quality destination infrastructure and support operators to grow world class offerings to reclaim its status as a premier destination in Australasia. The team will ensure a diverse portfolio of major events and grow the maturity of the sector. This role is an integral part of a collaborative and highly engaged senior leadership team who will value and seek your opinion.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will be a strong commercially focused strategic leader and thinker, with proven experience demonstrating compassionate leadership within a similar or related sector. This role will build you a high profile within the city, so you will need to be a confident presenter and be able to engage with a variety of complex stakeholders. You will demonstrate patience, perseverance, resilience and be resourceful on a limited budget with experience in large scale project management, risk management, tourism partnership development, working with mana whenua and love the thrill of a fast-paced environment. You will be politically experienced, astute, and able to manage complex pieces of work while building strong networks delivering sustained regional growth. A relevant tertiary qualification would be advantageous.
