Our Client
Synargy Furniture has successfully grown into one of New Zealand and Australia’s largest furniture wholesalers. Their simple vision: bringing innovative, quality furniture to market that is a step ahead of the rest, still drives everything they do, from on-trend lounge, dining, bedroom and outdoor ranges to their hi-tech lounges and massage chairs. Supplying leading retailers across New Zealand and Australia, and now the UK and Ireland, Synargy sources product from partners in Asia and has recently opened a showroom in China. Locally and privately owned, entrepreneurial and customer led, they wish to continue growing their business. For more information go to http://www.synargy.com.
The Role
Located in Rolleston (near Christchurch) and reporting to the Board, the COO will lead the Finance, Operations and Product-to-Market teams to ensure Synargy is continuously ready in the support of sales growth operationally, financially and from a systems perspective, without losing the agility and commercial responsiveness that has driven its success.
In this role you will translate the growth strategy into practical plans, provide strong financial oversight and working capital management, and tightly manage inventory, freight and warehousing across New Zealand, Australia, the UK and Ireland. You will be knowledgeable in ERP platforms, drive digital automation and process improvement, and strengthen risk, governance and internal controls. This is a strategic role in a business small enough to directly engage at all levels, in which you can apply your commercial judgement, understanding of operations, and leadership presence, to further grow the business.
Your Skills and Experience
To succeed in this position, you will bring proven senior leadership across finance and operations, ideally gained within an internationally focused importing, wholesale, distribution, FMCG or manufacturing environment. You will have a strong finance or commercial foundation, sound working capital and cost management expertise, with experience leading an ERP implementation and digital development. A relevant tertiary qualification is expected.
You will be entrepreneurial and treat the business as if it were your own – a safe pair of hands who is willing to get involved and brings energy and new ideas. You will balance agility with disciplined execution, introduce systems and structures, and have the leadership presence to build capable teams and to elevate relationships with customers, partners and the Board.
