Finance and Administration Manager

Our client
Gaming Machine Distributors Limited (GMD) is the licensed IGT (International Game Technology) dealer for the South Island, Manawatu, Hawkes Bay and Gisborne, providing sales, service and support for the full range of IGT gaming machines, jackpot link systems and ancillary equipment. GMD’s client base includes Chartered Clubs, Sports Clubs, Hotels and Taverns, and it works closely with the Charitable Trusts that own and operate gaming machines on their behalf.

GMD’s Head Office, along with all management, accounting and administration functions, is based in Christchurch, alongside its workshop, assembly, spare parts and showroom facilities. The company also operates satellite offices and field-based sales and service teams across the wider South Island and lower North Island.

About the role
Reporting to the Managing Director, you will lead GMD’s finance function, managing two direct reports across accounts payable and accounts receivable, overseeing the business’s cashflow, preparing monthly management accounts and reporting, and working closely with GMD’s external Accountants on annual reporting.

This is a genuine opportunity to shape how the finance function operates, where you’ll have real scope to improve systems, drive automation, and modernise processes across the business.

Your Skills and Experience
To succeed in this role you will have the following skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of Xero, ideally including system administration and reporting
  • Demonstrated experience implementing systems automation within a finance function
  • Previous financial accounting experience, including month-end reporting and cashflow management
  • Strong commercial management and analysis skills
  • Experience leading or managing a small team
  • Self-driven, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities

To succeed in this role you will be an experienced accountant or finance manager who enjoys autonomy, and who is looking to make a genuine commercial impact within a well-established business.
