About the role
Port Marlborough continue to invest in its infrastructure and assets, creating an excellent opportunity for an experienced and adaptable General Engineer to join their Workshop team. Working collaboratively across trades and the wider organisation this role plays an important part in delivery high-quality engineering maintenance and construction outcomes that support the Port’s ongoing operations.
Reporting to the Mechanical Lead and working alongside a team of experienced tradespeople, you’ll carry out a broad range of engineering, maintenance and construction work across the Port’s diverse facilities and infrastructure. From fitting and welding through to hydraulic equipment, water reticulation, plant maintenance, scheduled inspections and infrastructure repairs, you’ll enjoy genuine variety while helping keep essential operations running safely and efficiently.
The Workshop team takes pride in delivering practical solutions, quality workmanship and responsive support across the business. There will be the expectation that this role takes a share of on-call duties which are rostered to provide 24/7 emergency cover for critical port infrastructure.
About you
You’ll be a practical, trade-qualified engineer who enjoys variety and takes pride in delivering quality workmanship. Comfortable working independently or as part of a team, you’ll be adaptable, proactive and willing to pitch in wherever needed.
You’ll bring sound engineering skills, experience with welding and general maintenance work, and the ability to problem-solve and think on your feet. Just as importantly, you’ll value teamwork, communicate well with colleagues and contractors, and have a strong commitment to health and safety.
A relevant engineering trade qualification and a full New Zealand driver’s licence are essential.
