We are seeking a motivated Process and Environmental Engineer to join our Nelson-based team. This role offers the opportunity to work across production, quality, and environmental systems, supporting operational performance and long-term sustainability.
About the Role:
In this role, you will deliver cost-effective, site-wide process improvements that increase production efficiency, optimise resource use, and reduce process variability. You will also support the Systems Manager in maintaining ISO-certified management systems and lead the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan, ensuring compliance with resource consents and environmental risk controls.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse, troubleshoot, and improve production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce variability
- Support the maintenance and ongoing improvement of ISO and other certified management systems
- Implement and review the site Environmental Management Plan and monitor compliance with resource consents
- Actively manage environmental risks, including hazardous substances, wastewater treatment, and workplace exposure monitoring
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators and community representatives
- Contribute to research and development of new products and process improvements
- Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across the site
About You:
- Tertiary qualification in environmental science, process engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field
- Experience working with ISO management systems and environmental compliance frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Experience with PLCs and process control systems
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- A proactive, solutions-focused approach with flexibility to take on responsibilities beyond core duties
