They now have a career defining opportunity for an intermediate accountant to deepen their agri-sector experience and grow their career within a respected firm, managing a well-established rural client base across the Oamaru region.
The Role
This role centres on managing and supporting a well-established portfolio of clients. A significant portion of the portfolio sits within the agricultural sector, requiring an understanding of farming operations, seasonal cashflows, and the nuances of the industry.
You will take ownership of preparing financial statements, tax returns, GST returns, and other compliance work, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness. Alongside this, you will work closely with clients to develop cashflow forecasts that meet banking and industry requirements, providing practical insights to support decision-making.
Client service sits at the heart of the role, with a focus on building trusted relationships and ensuring client needs are met in a professional and responsive manner. While ideally based in Oamaru, for the right person this role could be Wānaka based, with an expectation of regular travel to maintain strong client relationships.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role you will be qualified and experienced accountant who brings a solid grounding in the agricultural sector, including an understanding of dairy industry structures, and the broader commercial drivers of farming businesses. Experience using industry-specific tools such as Figured is important and exposure to Farm Focus would be advantageous.
Beyond technical capability, to really make the most of this opportunity there is an expectation of ongoing learning and development within the agri sector, and a willingness to engage with the wider rural community, participating in and contributing to regional agri events and networks.
