Fifteen years in elite sport management taught me what it takes to become the best. Not only in sport but it’s surprisingly similar across any walk of life. It’s obvious just how essential the quality of people on your team are so I took on the challenge to improve the capability of people across NZ’s elite sport system. Our work included finding and strengthening leaders, accelerating coaches and sharpening our talent ID detection.

I also have a massive drive to improve organisations and love learning about what creates business success. I can’t help but see opportunities and want to get involved. I’ve worked at ownership, governance and management levels in larger companies ($100M balance sheets), mid-sized companies, digital start-ups and not-for-profits. I have crossed industries including IT, insurance, finance, property, veterinary, sport and I also have a strong appreciation for the rural sector having grown up on a   sheep and beef farm in Hawkes Bay. Along the way, I’ve also been fortunate enough to win awards in governance and business innovation.

My experience has shown time and again how much organisations can improve with clear direction, strongly-aligned leadership and amazing people on board. Growth and improvement have come from acquisitions, creating new products and improved customer experience.  Working with leaders is something I enjoy with my greatest satisfaction coming from seeing them achieve more than they thought possible.

Life’s about plenty of fun as well.  Out of work, you’ll find me as a taxi service to my two daughters, on a mountain or attempting a DIY project.
